Port Vale have completed the signing of former Manchester City striker Alex Nimely.

The 23-year-old, who has been training with Rob Page's men, has put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the season. He was a free agent following his release by the Premier League champions during the summer. Vale boss Page said: "He has got the pedigree behind him again, he was at Manchester City as a youngster. "I spoke to a good friend of mine who says he has quality and we know he is going to bring that quality into the squad so it's pleasing to get his signature. "We need to get him fit, he knows that himself, but I think once we do get him fit we'll have a player on our hands." Nimely, a former England youth international, was born in Liberia and started his professional career with Coton de Garoua before transferring to City in 2008. He has previously played in the Football League for Middlesbrough, Coventry and Crystal Palace.
