Port Vale have signed versatile left-sided player Colin Daniel following his release from Mansfield Town.

Daniel has agreed a two-year contract after being released by the Stags and he will link up with Micky Adams' men on July 1. The 26 year-old started his career at hometown club Eastwood Town before going to Crewe, where he made 14 appearances. During his time at Gresty Road he also had loan spells at Halifax Town and Macclesfield, with whom he later joined on a permanent basis, before signing for the Stags. "I had a few clubs showing their interest but as soon as Micky called me I couldn't say no because Port Vale are obviously a big club and I've heard a lot of good things about the club," Daniel told the club's official website. "I'm a quick player, I like to defend and retain the ball." Adams added: "We're delighted to have him on board, lots of clubs were interested in him. "We've highlighted him and tracked him all season, and we're sure he'll be a great asset for us."
