Port Vale have completed the signing of teenage defender Jack Grimmer on loan from Fulham.

Grimmer, 19, previously of Aberdeen, has joined the League One club on a one-month deal. "He can help bring competition for places for a start," Vale boss Micky Adams told the club's official website. "He can play at centre-half or at right-back and we have been looking to strengthen in that area for a while. "He is a player who we have watched on numerous occasions for Fulham reserves and he is well thought of down there, in and around their first-team squad. We are delighted to have him on board. "We have got no doubts about his ability. I think that he can only get better and we are helping him to develop his career and we hope he does well, but we have a lot of experienced defenders making mistakes." Grimmer, who has yet to feature for the Fulham first team, said: "I have trained with the squad this morning (Tuesday) and as soon as I walked into the dressing room I was made to feel welcome, and the training has been enjoyable. "I think I can bring a competitive edge into the team. I have been brought up to be a winner. The team are already in eight place in the league and I would like to feel I can contribute to more success." Grimmer will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game against league leaders Brentford, as will defender Joe Davis, who has returned from a loan spell with Luton.
