Adams questions refs' fitness

Port Vale manager Micky Adams has raised concerns about the fitness levels of match officials in League Two.

Adams suggested that full-time referees should be introduced to the lower leagues to bring their fitness up to scratch. "I'm not sure fitness levels are as good as they should be," Adams told BBC Radio Stoke. "The players are fitter than they ever have been. Maybe the advent of full-time refs must come down to the lower leagues sooner rather than later. "Looking at some of the incidents on Saturday (as Vale lost 2-0 to Northampton), the referee wasn't in the ideal position to award correct decisions on a number of occasions, so I would have to question his fitness. "It's not down to me, it's down to his bosses to sort out."
