Port Vale manager Micky Adams hailed his team's spirit after they came from behind to draw with Burton on Tuesday night.

Albion debutant Jordan Chappell, on loan from Sheffield United, scored with his first touch when his cross sailed into the far corner of the net after 73 minutes - but it took Vale just two minutes to rescue a point through their own super sub Ben Williamson.

The Vale boss, who was forced to withdraw goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson due to a knee injury

said: "That was a hard-fought point because we had difficulties during the match with injuries. We were up against it really but we showed our battling qualities and a never-say-die spirit.

"Towards the end we were piling the pressure on trying to snatch a late winner. Whether we would have deserved that I'm not too sure because I thought it was a game between two evenly matched sides.

"To come away with a 1-1, I think I'll take that. I thought our goal came from possibly the best move of the game. Louis Dodds has played a great ball out to Jennison Myrie-Williams and he's put in a great early cross.

"I think Ben fancied another goal because he's a confidence player and he stuck it away nicely. It was a great move. As for their goal, it was down to a bit of luck because the lad has just turned and hit it blind."
