Davis: Draw a fair result

Crewe boss Steve Davis felt a share of the points was the right outcome after a 1-1 derby draw at local rivals Port Vale.

Crisis club Vale, who appear to be heading towards administration, took the lead courtesy of an own goal from Alex defender David Artell but Byron Moore headed the visitors level with 10 minutes remaining. Davis said: "It was a very good game and I thought a draw was a fair result. "Vale really went after us at the start and they played at a tempo we struggled to live with. They also passed the ball better than us and I was pleased to go in 0-0 at half-time. "I just told the boys to keep going because it was always going to be difficult for Vale to maintain that tempo throughout the 90 minutes. "We went behind early in the second half but Vale's energy levels did dip a bit and our boys started to find the space to play. We got on top, started to create chances and got our rewards."
