Adams: Team looks solid

Port Vale manager Micky Adams praised his team "to a man" after their 1-0 win at Rotherham.

The game was settled by a 56th-minute penalty following Dale Tonge's challenge on Doug Loft, Marc Richards making no mistake from the spot.

The Millers came close to an equaliser when substitute Brett Williams saw his last-minute header cleared off the line but visiting Vale hung on to leave Adams delighted.

"We're in difficult times at the club at the moment, there is no denying that," he said. "With the results and all that is going on around the place it has been flat.

"We needed a result for ourselves, to give us a boost. I am sure this result will lift everybody around the place and it is a welcome three points.

"I have criticised people in recent weeks but to a man they put their head on the ball which they needed to do, particularly in the second half, they won their challenges and we looked solid."
