Port Vale striker is hoping to extend his one-year deal at the club

Tom Pope admits he would like see out the remainder of his career with Port Vale - the club he supported as a boy. The striker failed to make the grade with his local club and signed a professional contract with Crewe instead. The 26-year-old finally got his dream move in the summer when Jim Gannon handed him a one-year deal after impressing on loan last season. Pope has played every match of the season so far and now says he would love to sign a new deal with the club when his current one runs out at the end of the season. "Everybody knows how much I love this club. I would sign a 20-year contract if I could," he said. "I only have a one-year deal at the moment, but I'm not too worried. "I'm still young. It's not as if I'm a Premier League footballer in my 30's looking for one big pay day."
