Port Vale are not taking any chances with striker Marc Richards, who won't be rushed back from an ankle injury.
Club captain Richards has been limited to just 10 appearances this season after struggling with the problem sustained in July.
The 29-year-old, who has scored 20 goals in each of the last two campaigns, has still managed to hit the back of the net six times this term.
Richards has missed Vale's last four games and, although he is hoping to return for the trip to Dagenham on December 10, assistant boss Mark Grew admits the problem is still troubling him.
"Marc's not back in full training yet and he won't come back until the soreness is out of his ankle," Grew told the Sentinel. "Every time he does a lot of work, the ankle becomes a little bit stiff and tender.
"Until we get that sorted, it would be silly to let him play and then possibly lose him for another three or four weeks. We are looking at him coming back for the Dagenham game, but we want him to come off there and not have any soreness."
