In-form striker Sean Rigg earned praise from Vale manager Micky Adams after taking his goal tally for the season to four against Accrington.

Rigg scored twice as Vale romped into a four-goal half-time lead to sweep aside Accrington. His double bookended Gary Roberts' 23rd-minute free-kick and Tom Pope's 37th-minute header. Peter Murphy claimed a second-half consolation for Stanley. The Vale boss said: "I'm very pleased for Sean because he had a tough time here in the second half of last season. He's on fire at the moment and long may it continue. "Tom Pope leads the line well and Sean and Doug Loft are benefiting from that. The system we are playing is suiting the players we've got and things are going well. "I don't think we started the game particularly well and it took us time to get going, but when we did our tempo was good and we looked strong, sharp and fit."
