Millers terminate Pope contract

League Two club Rotherham have terminated the contract of out-of-favour striker Tom Pope after being loaned out last term.

The 25-year-old joined in a £150,000 move from Crewe in the summer of 2009, but failed to settle at Don Valley and scored just six goals in over 50 appearances. He spent last season on loan at Port Vale and was made available for transfer by manager Andy Scott in the summer. However, after receiving no interest in the striker, the Millers have now decided to terminate his contract, which had one year to run. A club statement read: "Tom Pope has left Rotherham United after his contract was terminated by mutual consent. We would like to wish Tom all the best for the future."
