Port Vale are set to sign striker Tom Pope - who scored three goals in 10 appearances on loan at Vale Park last season - on a free transfer.
Pope is set to sign a one-year deal.
"He is a very good striker at this level and I am sure he is keen to do well for the club he supports," Vale boss Micky Adams told the club's official website.
"I am sure he will prove to be an important addition and can add another dimension to our attack."
Pope began his career at local rivals Crewe before joining Rotherham in a £150,000 deal in 2009.
