Adams hopes duo will be ready

Port Vale boss Micky Adams says Ryan Burge and Ben Williamson will be fit for the first game of the season against Crawley.

Midfielder Burge has played a minimal role in Vale's pre-season preparations due to a knee injury, while forward Williamson has been sidelined by a hamstring problem since the squad returned from their North American tour last week. Adams expects them both to play in a friendly against Biddulph Town on Tuesday. He told The Sentinel: "Hopefully Ryan and Ben will be fit to get some time on the pitch on Tuesday. "It has been frustrating for them to be missing from the last couple of friendlies, but I think everyone will be fit before the start of the season except Gareth Owen (Achilles)."
