Left-back joins Watford from Stoke for undisclosed fee

Watford have completed the signing of Stoke City left-back Carl Dickinson on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old made over 60 appearances for The Potters, but spent much of the past few seasons away from The Britannia Stadium. Dickinson was on loan at Portsmouth last season while he also enjoyed previous stints with the likes of Barnsley and Leeds. Stoke boss Tony Pulis has thanked Dickinson for his contribution to the club, stating he helped them progress to where they are today. "Carl played an important part in helping the club to get where it is today and throughout his time with the club his character and enthusiasm made him a hugely popular figure around the place," Pulis told Stoke's official website. "We are all delighted for him that he has been offered this new challenge with a club who have been there or thereabouts in the Championship promotion race in recent seasons, so we wish him every success in the future." The defender becomes Watford's sixth signing this summer behind the likes of Craig Forsyth, David Mirfin, Mark Yeates, Prince Bauben and Chris Iwelumo.
