Plymouth Argyle have agreed a deal to sign former Barnsley striker Liam Dickinson.

Argyle have already completed the signings of former Rochdale defender Robbie Williams and ex-Aston Villa trainee Durrell Berry. And manager Peter Reid is delighted to land a player of Dickinson's pedigree. He said: "Liam is still young and a big, strong lad. "I've spoken to the boy, I've met him and he just needs to get his career back on track. I think it's a great opportunity for us to be the club where he does that. "I can only help the boy, he's got to do it himself and it's seems to me that he's got the bit between his teeth ready to do a job for us so I'm delighted that he's agreed to sign." Dickinson scored over 30 league goals for Stockport before joining Derby for around £750,000 in July 2008. He was loaned out to Huddersfield, Blackpool and Leeds before making a permanent switch to Brighton for £300,000 in 2009. Another loan spell followed, this time at Peterborough, before his move to Barnsley last summer. Now 25, Dickinson had spells at Walsall and Rochdale last season but failed to score a goal over the course of the campaign.
