Caretaker manager Mark Grew has confirmed Port Vale are close to agreeing new contracts with Doug Loft and Adam Yates.

The duo's contracts expire in the summer, but Grew is determined to tie them to new deals as he begins his preparations for next season. He told the club's official website: "The contracts are being drawn up now, ready for them to sign. "The amount of appearances they have made this season shows you how consistent they have been. Yates has always been part and parcel of the first XI. "Doug has done really well this season, he has been really consistent and deserves the contract that has been offered to him. "They are hungry, they want to improve and they want to get better. That is why we have offered them new contracts."
