Sam Morsy has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Port Vale until the summer of 2013.
The promising midfielder, 19, broke into Vale's first team under previous boss Jim Gannon back in January and has shown in his 11 performances since that he is more than up to the task having risen through the youth ranks at the Burslem club.
Morsy told Vale's official website: "I'm really pleased to sign an extension to my current deal to stay with the club.
"I've really enjoyed being involved in first-team football and I am ambitious for that to continue. Hopefully we can push on from here and get promotion this year - that would be the icing on the cake. Everyone wants to play in League One next season."
Caretaker boss Mark Grew added: "It can be a big step from the youth team to the first team but Sam has demonstrated that with hard work, that step can be made. He looks at ease with first-team football and as he's only 19 he has the potential to become an even better player."
