Portsmouth defender Carl Dickinson is set to undergo surgery on his injured knee, manager Steve Cotterill has revealed.
The on-loan Stoke defender, who has made 26 appearances for Pompey this season, could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up the knock.
The 23-year-old stopper sat out Tuesday night's defeat at QPR with the problem, and Cotterill is still waiting to hear how serious it is.
He said: "Carl will be going in and having a knee operation. It could be short-term or long-term.
"He will definitely have to have something done, it's just the severity of what he has to have done."
Dickinson, who began his senior career at Stoke, arrived at Fratton Park on a short-term deal last year.
The left-back has also spent time on loan at Blackpool, Leeds and Barnsley.
