Port Vale defender Lee Collins is confident he is over a recent bout of shin splints after his comeback against Morecambe.
The 22-year-old had been sidelined since early November but emerged unscathed from a 65-minute run-out after replacing the injured Gareth Owen in the 1-0 defeat.
He told the Sentinel: "I've been back training for over a week and been playing in 90-minute practice matches on hard surfaces, which is where you would expect a reaction. But I never had one and I didn't straight after the game on Saturday, I was pain free.
"I'm completely over the injury and I hope and feel very confident it won't come back.
"I was disappointed to see Gaz come off because he's a rock at the back and we rely on him.
"But I was more than happy to get back out there and do a job because I've been tearing my hair out for the past month. I thought I played OK."
