Scottish defender moves on three-year contract

Leeds United have confirmed they have completed the signing of Preston defender Neill Collins on a three-year deal. The 26-year-old centre-half spent a spell on loan at Elland Road at the end of last season, playing nine games as the Whites earned promotion to the Championship. As revealed by skysports.com on Monday, Collins was in talks with Leeds and medical and personal terms had been agreed. He has now completed the move and becomes manager Simon Grayson's fifth signing of the summer, making the switch to West Yorkshire for an undisclosed fee. Grayson told the club's official website: "We know all about Neill from last season and what he brings to the club. "Neill already knows most of the lads here, but we're pleased we've been able to complete the deal before we go to Slovakia on Saturday. "Neill has plenty of experience at Championship level and he is another important addition to the squad." The former Sunderland and Wolves defender was deemed surplus to requirements by Preston boss Darren Ferguson, and the former Scotland Under-21 international only signed on at Deepdale in January.
