Striker Justin Richards says he is highly interested in making a move from Cheltenham to Port Vale.
The 29-year-old, who scored 15 league goals for the Robins last season, is a free agent but has been offered a new one-year deal at Whaddon Road.
However, former West Brom trainee Richards has revealed Vale have held talks with his agent.
Richards, who hopes to resolve his future in the next week, has also attracted interest from other clubs, but admits the prospect of a switch to Vale Park is tempting.
Appealing
"It's massively appealing because of the club and manager's stature," Richards told
The Sentinel.
"When I was an apprentice at West Brom they were in the Championship with Vale.
"You can't buy experience and Micky Adams has managed at the top level, so I've a lot of admiration for him.
"I'm not sure what's been said and I don't want to get too involved because I want to show Cheltenham respect. I'm just happy to have people interested in me.
"It's a case of assessing my options and I'm waiting to have a conversation with the manager at Cheltenham."
Richards admits he was surprised to see Vale miss out on a play-off spot after facing them with Cheltenham in March, adding: "When we played them at our place, they looked really good."
