Marc Richards has expressed his desire to remain at Port Vale and would be happy to open contract talks.
Richards has bagged 11 goals this season but time is running out on his current deal which expires at the end of the season.
"I would definitely welcome talks, but I'm not going to say I want the manager to come to me saying 'here's a contract'," the striker told the Staffordshire Sentinel.
"I would like to stay and I'm happy if the club are happy with me doing what I'm doing.
"If they do come to me and want to talk, fair enough, but if not, then I'll do my best for the club until the end of the season and see what happens."
