Port Vale have signed versatile Hartlepool player Richie Humphreys on an initial one-month loan deal.
The 28-year-old, who can play on the left of defence or midfield, has made more than 250 appearances for Pools since joining them from Sheffield Wednesday.
He has been in and out of the side so far this season though, and League One high-flyers Port Vale have pounced to bring him in.
Valiants boss Martin Foyle is delighted to snap up Humphreys, and is hoping to lengthen his deal beyond October.
"He has joined us on a month's loan, but we are hoping to extend that to a three-month spell," said Foyle.
"He is a quality player. I didn't feel we needed to bring in another right-sidedplayer as Stefan Moore and Danny Whitaker can both play out on the right.
"He has plenty of experience, he's a fit lad and another addition as we go into seven games in a short period.
"Although we have just suffered two defeats, we have had a great start to the season and it is better to freshen things up when we are up towards the top of the table."
