Mixed news at Vale

George Pilkington has signed a new deal, while Tony Dinning has rejoined Stockport.

Port Vale have signed defender George Pilkington to a new deal and allowed midfielder Tony Dinning to rejoin Stockport County.

Pilkington proved an ever-present in Martin Foyle's side last season, with the 24-year-old signing a new two-year contract with the Potteries outfit.

The defender will take over the captain's armband at Vale Park next season following Dinning's decision to accept a player-coaching role at Edgeley Park.

The former Newcastle United, Wolves, Wigan Athletic and Bristol City player had a year left on his Vale contract, but Foyle has allowed him to concur on a two-year deal with The Hatters.

Dinning (pictured) is due to undergo a medical with the League Two club next week.
