Matthews blow for Vale

Port Vale striker Lee Matthews is set for a month on the sidelines.

Port Vale striker Lee Matthews is set for a month on the sidelines.

The former Leeds United trainee injured his ankle against Doncaster Rovers last Friday.

Matthews is now expected to be out of action for four weeks.

"Lee went up for a header and came down awkwardly on his ankle and there is very little you can do about it," said Valiants chief Martin Foyle.

"These things happen in football."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Mark Goodlad is not expected to be fit until November with a thigh strain.
