Edinburgh relishing opener

Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh is expecting a tough start to the season when his side hosts Sheffield United on the opening day.

Having missed out on the play-offs last term, the Blades replaced Nigel Clough with Nigel Adkins, and have been handed a trip to Priestfield after the 2015/16 fixture list was released. Edinburgh told the Gills' website: "I'm really excited by it; they missed out in the play-off semi-finals and I expect them to be one of the favourites for the title, let alone promotion, and with Nigel [Adkins] in charge they have a lot of respect for him. "They are well organised, he's had good success wherever he's been and I think it's a great first game for us. Our last three matches here produced good performances and results and we are looking to continue that and start the season with a good crowd. "The atmosphere for our final game was quite phenomenal and that's what we will be looking to do here at the start."
