Justin Edinburgh will not be in charge of Newport this weekend as his move to Gillingham looks to be edging closer.

Edinburgh did not attend his weekly press conference on Friday, with his assistant Jimmy Dack fielding the questions. Dack admitted former Tottenham defender Edinburgh, who led County into the Football League in 2013 following a play-off final win against Wrexham, was on the verge of taking over at Priestfield. "Justin is at home at the moment and there are further discussions going on at board level," Dack told reporters. "I spoke to Justin after training, I think he just wants something sorted either way, so we can move on. "There has been plenty said and written, but it's down to Justin to say what he wants to do. "He's taken training every day this week but wasn't in today and I don't foresee him being at the game tomorrow. "We spoke with the group before training and had a good chat, we are a tight group and they do feel a lot for their manager and this situation has been dragging on for far too long now. "It's the first time they've had feedback on the situation and they know where it is going now and concentrating on the game ahead."
