Gills boss proud of top spot

Image: Martin Allen: Wants players to relish lofty heights

Gillingham manager Martin Allen has urged his players to enjoy the experience of sitting at the top of League Two.

The Gills are currently two points clear of second-placed Port Vale with 18 games of the season to go, and Allen has told his players to relish it as things can change very quickly. He told the club's official website: "We have all seen how quickly it can change. "We have seen it year in, year out. Manchester United last year blew an eight-point gap at the top of the Premier League with world class players and probably the most successful manager in World Football. "Two points isn't much really for us, there are 18 games to go so by my calculations 16 wins should win the league which would be fantastic for the club." He added: "We've got to keep enjoying it, even when it doesn't go great we need to support each other and look after each other because there will be ups and downs between now and the end of the season, we know that."
