Allen: We'll keep Kedwell

Gillingham boss Martin Allen insists Danny Kedwell is going nowhere despite being the subject of plenty of January enquiries.

Kedwell has found the net 10 times in 23 league appearances for the Gills this term, although seven of those outings have come off the bench as Allen tinkers with his side to keep his players fresh. And the former AFC Wimbledon forward, who also has two further goals to his name in cup competitions, has not seen his exploits go unnoticed by others. Yet Allen is adamant Kedwell is not for sale. "Loads of clubs have rung up about him but he is not going anywhere. He is a good player and part of our squad," Allen told KentOnline. Kedwell revealed he has no desire to move elsewhere as Gillingham chase promotion from League Two. The 29-year-old added: "I would love to finish my career here. I am a local boy and it's the club I support. Hopefully that's me finished now (with moving), although in football you never know what is around the corner. "It is a real good buzz to be playing for my local club."
