Ricketts miffed at Gills snub

Rohan Ricketts has expressed his disappointment at not securing a contract with Gillingham after impressing while on trial.

The free agent, though, refuses to give up all hope of a possible deal. The former Spurs and Arsenal midfielder has been without a club since leaving Shamrock Rovers in January and had been training with the Kent outfit of late. Gills manager Andy Hessenthaler was suitably impressed with Ricketts, but has to offload players before he can offer the 29-year-old terms. "Unfortunately despite impressing the gaffer, I was gutted to find out that he could not offer me a deal right away," Ricketts wrote on his own official website. "Gutted is an understatement of the feeling when he broke the news to me. He seems like a real good guy who is working hard to try and turn his team's form around. "I hope that in the next week or so a deal can be reached so I can get down there and help the club push for a play-off place."
