Megson has been delighted with on-loan keeper's performances

Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson is hoping to agree a deal to sign on-loan goalkeeper Stephen Bywater permanently in January. Bywater has impressed since joining the Owls on loan from Derby County in September and he has made 11 appearances for the League One club. He kept his sixth clean sheet for Megson's side in Saturday's 2-0 win at Oldham Athletic and earned the praise of the Wednesday boss. Megson has raised the prospect of a permanent deal with the Owls board and has also spoken to Derby counterpart Nigel Clough about hanging on to Bywater. "We've been really pleased with Stephen since he has come in," said Megson. "I've spoken to Nigel Clough about what's going to happen and I've said I want to sign him in the long term. "I have made it clear to our board that I would like to keep Stephen."
