Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler has told defender Simon King that he could force his way back into the starting XI.

The 28-year-old has returned to the Gills after a two-month loan spell with fellow League Two club Plymouth where he made six appearances. King, who was twice been named players' player of the year at Priestfield, could make Gillingham's squad for their game at Bournemouth on Saturday. Hessenthaler told Kent News: "There's every chance he could force his way into the starting line-up. We're getting to that time of year now where suspensions come along and injuries occur, things can change very quickly in football. "We know he's a quality player and have just got to try and get him back to where he was a few years ago. "He's very determined to get back to his best and we'll do everything we can to help him."
