Valiants response pleases Adams

Manager Micky Adams praised Port Vale for bouncing back from their Morecambe mauling with a resounding 3-0 win at Bristol Rovers.

Beaten 4-0 at home on Saturday, Vale responded with goals from Marc Richards, Doug Loft and former Rovers player Sean Rigg. Adams said: "There were a few people ready to have a pop at us after our last game, and rightly so. I'm pleased for the fans who travelled here because I expected only a man and his dog to support us after what happened on Saturday. "In fact, there was a really good following and the lads showed what they are made of by coming up with the performance we needed. "Sean Rigg was really up for the game against his old club and proved it with a great goal, but it was a real team performance and I wouldn't want to single out any individual. "We needed to show a bit of character and that's exactly what happened."
