Hessenthaler hails Kedwell

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler believes Danny Kedwell is made for the club after scoring two goals against Plymouth.

Local boy Kedwell grabbed his first goal after joining from AFC Wimbledon in the 74th minute as Ben Gibson saw red for handling in the box and he added his second for the Gills in injury time. "Danny just gives everything for club. It's his home town club and he's getting the rewards and we are too," said Hessenthaler. "It's two penalties but he set the second goal up so I'm delighted for him. I said before the game it would be his day, and he did the job. He's already a fans' favourite because he wants to give everything." Hessenthaler added: "You can't ask for more than three goals and a clean sheet. At half-time we said we'd have to be patient. "We knew that would be the case as they set up to frustrate us and I don't think we ever got frustrated. We kept on plugging away, and I felt something would happen. "Sometimes you get the decisions, sometimes you don't and with the penalty we got it. Obviously it was a double whammy for them with the sending off too, which was tough on them but when things aren't going for you don't get the decisions."
