Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler has played down rumours linking Iffy Onuora with the vacant assistant manager's position.
Onuora appeared 85 times for the Gills and was spotted at Monday's friendly draw with Braintree Town. But Hessenthaler explained Onuora was just bringing a trialist to the club. "He brought a lad in on trial and we had a look at him. That was all, it wasn't about Iffy coming back to the club," he told BBC Radio Kent . "He hasn't applied for the job and he hasn't even spoken to me about the job."
