Skysports.com understands Dover Athetic hot-shot Adam Birchall has handed in a transfer request at the club.
The former Arsenal trainee is thought to be a target for a number of clubs in the Football League following his goalscoring exploits for Dover.
The 26-year-old scored 45 goals last season and he has found himself one of the most sought-after players in the lower leagues.
An unnamed non-league club have had a bid rejected for the free-scoring forward, while a number of League Two sides are believed to be preparing moves for Birchall.
Gillingham have held a long-term interest in Birchall and they could now step up their interest in the powerful forward.
Dover are reluctant to lose Birchall, but the player has indicated his desire to move on by handing in the transfer request.
