Goalkeeper completes Priestfield switch

Gillingham have completed the signing of Lance Cronin from Blue Square South outfit Ebbsfleet United. The goalkeeper has penned a one-year deal at Priestfield after agreeing personal terms. The 24-year-old has been training with the Gills for some time and played the final seven minutes of Saturday's 2-1 victory over his former employers. He has done enough during his time with the club to earn a permanent deal, with Andy Hessenthaler suitably impressed by what he has to offer. Cronin becomes Gillingham's sixth new signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Stefan Payne, Andrew White, Cody McDonald, Tony Sinclair and Danny Spiller. His contract with the League Two club contains the option for a second year should the Gills wish to keep him on board. The move also sees Cronin, who has previously been on the books at Crystal Palace, Wycome, Oldham and Shrewsbury, return to the Football League ranks after a four-year absence.
