Stephen Bywater will miss the last two games, leading Derby to recall Ross Atkins from his loan spell.

Atkins recalled from loan to provide cover for Deeney

Derby County have recalled Ross Atkins from his loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers after Stephen Bywater was ruled out of the final two games of the season. Bywater has sprained a rib joint and Rams boss Nigel Clough has decided not to risk the goalkeeper for the fixtures against Bristol City and Cardiff City. Clough wants to ensure Bywater is fit for the start of pre-season training and confirmed Saul Deeney will be given a chance between the posts. "Stephen has been in outstanding form for us all season and with safety secure we don't want to risk further damage to his ribs," Clough told the club's official website. "As it stands, all he needs is rest and he will be fine for pre-season training which commences at the end of June. "On the flip-side now it is a chance for Saul to impress in these final two games. He has had to be patient waiting for his chance and he has been a fantastic understudy to Stephen. He deserves his chance and it will be a terrific experience for him." With Bywater sidelined, Clough has also brought Atkins back from his stint at Kidderminster to provide cover for Deeney for the next two matches.
