Mark Stimson maintains there have been no bids for Simeon Jackson this summer and he hopes it stays that way.
The Canadian international scored the last-gasp winner in the League Two play-off final at Wembley in May to send Gillingham back into the third tier of English football.
He has previously attracted a lot of attention but Stimson is thankful that it has all gone quiet over the last couple of months.
"No, we haven't had anything come our way in terms of interest for Simeon and that is good news for the club because he was brilliant last season," the Gills boss told
skysports.com.
"We got promoted, so that has been a little easy to keep someone like him here and hopefully he will have the same sort of success in League One as he did in League Two last season.
"He will play at a high level one day and hopefully he will help to get this club at that level as well."
Palmer
Recent recruit Chris Palmer has previously indicated his desire to nail down a regular place in just one position for the Gills this season, despite being able to function in a number of different areas.
And Stimson revealed that the former Walsall man hopes to become a winger.
He explained: "We know that he can play in four positions, but he has stayed behind in training to work on one position and he prefers to play as a winger, so we've tried him out on the right for a game and on the left for another and he has done well in both.
"It is great to have someone like that in the squad because we haven't got a big squad here and so for him to be able to fill into a number of roles when called upon is very handy."
