Jarvis 'happy to stay'

Matt Jarvis is in no rush to leave Gillingham, according to his agent.

Matt Jarvis is in no rush to leave Gillingham, according to his agent.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been in fantastic form this season and is rated as one of the best players in League One.

He has attracted interest from several Championship clubs, including Plymouth, who recently saw a bid for the player rejected.

Gills chairman Paul Scally also revealed last week that the club's offer of a lucrative new deal had been turned by Jarvis' agent Mark Curtis.

Curtis has now insisted that he is happy for Jarvis to remain at The Priestfield Stadium, but only if Gillingham show a bit more purpose.

"Matt is not desperate to move. He is happy playing at Gillingham," Curtis told Kent on Sunday.

"He has a good relationship with the manager and loves the fans.

"But like all players he needs the club he is at to match his ambitions. Gillingham need to demonstrate that to him and if they do there is no reason why he will not stay.

"I'm not aware of him moving during January. Does that mean he is likely to stay and make a decision at the end of the season? At the moment, yes."
