Gillingham and Rochdale are chasing Chester striker Michael Branch.
Branch is well down the pecking order at Chester after a fall-out with Mark Wright.
The former Everton man has not featured for Chester this term so far and the club are willing to loan him.
The news has alerted Rochdale and Gillingham with Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan claiming both clubs have enquired about Branch.
"We've had enquiries from Rochdale and Gillingham about taking Michael on loan, so I'm leaving it up to the manager and the player," said Vaughan.
"They've patched up their differences now so well just have to see what the manager wants to do and what the player wants to do but there is certainly no shortage of interest in him."
