Crewe looking for keeper cover

Crewe have confirmed they are on the look-out for another goalkeeper after loanee Ross Etheridge returned to Derby.

Etheridge's departure at the end of his deal and Ben Garratt's leg-break leaves Alex searching for another keeper to provide competition to new signing Paul Rachubka. Etheridge was signed as a back-up for Garratt and failed to make a first-team appearance during his month-long stay at Gresty Road. He fell further down the pecking order following the arrival of free agent Rachubka last week. The club will now look elsewhere for a keeper to provide competition during Garratt's absence. A statement on the club's official website said: "The young Derby County goalkeeper Ross Etheridge has returned to his parent club after his one-month agreement expired. "With the news that Ben Garratt has suffered a fracture in his leg, Steve Davis will once again assess the market for a goalkeeper to offer competition and cover to Crewe's new goalkeeper."
