Robbo praise for excellent Alli

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson described striker Dele Alli as one of a kind following his hat-trick in the 6-1 drubbing of Crewe.

Alli, named the League One young player of the month for August, took his tally to six goals for the season as the Dons continued their storming start. Robinson said: "I think in every game this season he has either scored or created a goal - I'll never find another Dele Alli. "He plays football like he's running around the school playground. His collaboration of goals and assists are getting better and better with every game. "The kid's getting better, but we want to keep his feet on the ground. "He handles pressure like it's just a walk in the park for him. If he wants to play at the highest level then he needs to be able to keep doing that. "I don't have to talk about him, just support him, help him and keep him happy. "The league table looks wonderful for seven days now, and it'll be nice to look at the table as it is for seven days as it gives you the motivation to move on to the next game. "I'm proud of them and they certainly got it right." Alli opened the scoring in the third minute, but Kyle McFadzean inadvertently put Crewe level when his attempted header back to David Martin looped over the goalkeeper. It was not long though until Will Grigg restored Don's advantage and Alli struck again just after half-time to pull the home side clear. Benik Afobe, on loan from Arsenal, effectively put the game beyond doubt in the 70th minute before Alli completed his hat-trick and Ben Reeves rounded off a miserable afternoon for Crewe. Alex boss Steve Davis said: "We just didn't play and there are absolutely no excuses for that, we were so second best it was frightening at times. "We just hoped that at 2-1 we would still be in the game, if we could have got that second goal things might have been different. But after that it was just all downhill. "They were very unforgiving in terms of their attacking and their ability to finish. "We didn't have one player that really did anything and if you've got nobody anywhere near the levels they should be then we've got problems. "We got absolutely battered. It was just a lack of energy and a lack of ability. We were awful in possession and all over the place at the back. "I can make excuses, but I'm not going to. It will be a really long season for us if we keep playing like that." Breaking news, transfer gossip, line ups and goal alerts from your football club - delivered direct to your mobile.
