Crewe manager Steve Davis believes more clubs should follow Alex's lead by focusing on their youth teams.
The Gresty Road outfit are the only club outside the top two divisions to have a Category Two academy and will field an entire home-grown first XI on Saturday for their final game of the season.
And Davis believes utilising young players could bring an end to clubs struggling financially.
"You have to give young players a chance and be brave," he told the club's official website. "They can be inconsistent, but you have to stick with them and instil them with confidence and belief.
"This is the way more clubs should be run, especially in the Football League.
"You have owners and managers bringing players in on unrealistic wages, going bust and then waiting for another buyer to come in and do the same thing again.
"There is no continuity in that and it is about having some stability and being courageous enough to see how far you can go with the ability you have."
