Crewe manager Steve Davis has challenged his fringe players to show they have a future at the club.
A youthful Alex XI went down 4-1 at Swindon in midweek but Davis insists those players will be getting further chances to prove their worth before the end of the campaign.
"We have three games left and I have to see if these players are good enough," he told the club's official website.
"We have lost four or five of our key players recently through injury or suspension and this has given them their chance.
"They have to show that they are good enough and I told them that after the game. They have to perform and produce.
"Some of them are playing for contracts and perhaps that has been on their minds a bit, but they have to keep working hard and show what they can do in the remaining three games."
