Alex boss excited by Aneke

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis remains confident Chuks Aneke can be a success at the League One club.

On-loan Arsenal attacking midfielder Aneke saw his full Alex debut turn sour at the weekend when he was sent off for a two-footed lunge in the 2-2 draw with Stevenage. Davis initially claimed he would appeal the three-match ban, a stance he retracted having seen replays, and is now looking forward to the 19-year-old integrating further with his new team-mates of the Reaseheath training pitches. "We'll do a little bit more work with him and he'll only improve," said the Railwaymen boss. "There's a lot more to come from him. He's just getting to settle in and get used to the lads, how we play and what we expect of him." "He can play in any of the positions in the front four in that shape that we play. I think he's more natural playing off the front in that floating role and getting in the box. Playing off the front is an area where he can pick the ball up, be involved in the attack and then get himself in the box on the end of those crosses. "That's what we'll try and encourage him to do. He's a good lad, he's a good listener and I'm sure he's a good learner because of where he's come from. He'll only get better."
