Brown champing at the bit

Jordan Brown insists he is ready to play his part as Crewe push for promotion through the League Two play-offs.

A point against Aldershot, for whom Brown featured in a loan spell from West Ham earlier this term, in Saturday's final league game will be enough to secure a top-seven berth for Steve Davis' side. Brown, who recently extended his short-term contract at Gresty Road to cover any possible involvement in the play-offs, has not started a game since back-to-back appearances at left-back in March. "I'm hoping to get back in the team, I'm just waiting for another chance," he told the Crewe Chronicle. "I will be here until the end now and hopefully that will be longer than we expected. "The team has done really well and just have to keep it up. But they might need one of us players who haven't been playing and we could step in and play a big part."
