Midfielder keen to build up his experience on loan at Preston

Teenage midfielder Chuks Aneke is hoping his loan spell at Preston North End will boost his prospects of breaking into Arsenal's first-team plans. Aneke joined Preston last week and marked his debut for the League One club by scoring in Saturday's 1-1 home draw with Bury. He made his Arsenal bow in the Carling Cup earlier in the season and also spent a spell on loan at Stevenage under Preston manager Graham Westley. The 18-year-old is looking forward to playing in League One and is keen to make the transition from reserve-team football to the first team.

Happy

"I joined Arsenal when I was seven and have made my way through the youth system to the reserves," Aneke told the Lancashire Evening Post. "Now I need first-team games to maybe help me push into the first-team squad at Arsenal. "You get to a certain point when playing in the reserves all the time isn't as beneficial, and the next step is to go out on loan. "League One is really physically, quite different to what I'm used to playing in Arsenal's reserves. There's the importance that you're playing for league points, you're fighting every week for those three points. "The gaffer must have seen something in me at Stevenage that he liked, so I'm happy he's now brought me to Preston."
