Davis still keen on Tunnicliffe

Crewe boss Steve Davis has underlined his intention to look at bringing James Tunnicliffe back to Gresty Road in the summer.

Alex opted not to extend the defender's loan from Wycombe after discovering the 23-year-old required shoulder surgery, but Davis insists he did plenty to impress during his spell in Cheshire. "I spoke to his agent and I spoke to James himself," said the Railwaymen boss. "He had an operation on Wednesday on his shoulder so he's determined to get that sorted out as quickly as possible and get himself fit. "In terms of next season it was unfortunate we weren't able to look at him longer. The shoulder injury was a setback, he was playing very well in that game at Southend and certainly didn't look out of place. "I think there's more improvement to come from him and I'm sure he'd improve, and he knows he'd improve, with us. "It's one that is there for us. We can do that business in the summer if we want to and if he wants to come. That's something that I'll consider, but no firm decisions have been made on him yet even though he's keen to come."
