Davis: Clayton will learn

Boss Steve Davis believes England Under-18 striker Max Clayton will learn from his full debut despite Crewe losing to Bradford.

The 17-year-old managed a couple of efforts on goal at Valley Parade but was largely anonymous. Davis told the Club's official website: "Max struggled a bit today and found it hard going at times. There was that physical element to the game and the defenders were very tight to him throughout. "He has to learn to take a touch and come off them a bit. He was up against them trying to fight for possession and we need him to find that space. "It would have been a very good education for him." Clayton has made a handful of substitute appearances for Alex since making his debut against Morecambe at the back end of last season.
